Richard Freudenberger is the former research director of MOTHER EARTH NEWS and co-developer of the publication’s original 624-acre Eco-Village. His areas of expertise include biofuels, green building, and renewable energy. Freudenberger is the former publisher of BackHome magazine, founded 1990. He has worked as a sustainability consultant in an architectural design-build firm, and is an adjunct at a local college, where he teaches applied energy management and sustainability. He is currently the energy manager for Living Web Farms in Mills River, North Carolina. Freudenberger is the author of Alcohol Fuel: Making and Using Ethanol as a Renewable Fuel.
