Raynise and TaRay Kelly

Raynise and TaRay Kelly are the co-owners of Soil Sisters, a plant nursery that specializes in heirloom and organic vegetable, herb, and beneficial flower seedlings in Pittsburgh, Pa. While on a mission to fight food apartheid, they host farm-to-table workshops for adults and a horticultural based camp for kids.

Raynise Kelly is a Bidwell Alumni who works at Grow Pittsburgh and sits on various boards such as Pasa and Hilltop Urban Farms. She’s also a member of the Black Urban Gardeners, PA Farmers Union, Western PA Young Farmers Coalition, and recently taken a seat on the working committee of Pittsburgh Food Policy Council.

TaRay Kelly has worked for the University of Pittsburgh for over the past decade; becoming a board member of Grow Pittsburgh and a member of The PA Farmer’s Union as well the Black Urban Gardeners.

Build a home for bees with upcycled materials with the Soil Sisters, Raynise and TaRay Kelly. In their new home they can over winter inside and your garden will be sure to have pollinators next spring!

Build Your Own Sprout House

Calling all kids to assemble a house out of sponges! Join the Soil Sisters, Raynise and TaRay Kelly, as they show you how to lay seed paste on the outside, then watch over the weeks as it sprouts into a forest-like setting.
