Taming the Flame

Are you new to grilling? Or still struggling with the basics? In an hour, Elizabeth Karmel reveals the secrets you need to know to be the master of your grilling universe. Karmel, a native North Carolinian who wrote Steak and Cake: More Than 100 Recipes to Make Any Meal a Smash Hit!, demystifies grilling and introduces you to her trademarked Grilling Trilogy. This class provides you with all the knowledge you need to grill whatever suits your fancy (even if you don’t have a recipe). Once you’ve seen it for yourself, you’ll be living Karmel’s motto (“If you can eat it, you can grill it”) and grilling everything in sight. Take this class and let your imagination (and what looks good at the market) be your guide. After you learn the basics, visit Karmel at her hands-on book signing and learn how to make your own rub ... without a recipe!

A chef, cookbook author, and native North Carolinian, Karmel loves steak and cake so much that she wrote a book about it. Then Karmel (a lifelong scratch baker) shares her tips, shortcuts, and hacks for baking a perfectly moist cake to cap the meal off. This workshop's essentially about cooking and entertaining at home, and Karmel provides her guidelines for planning a stress-free dinner party that the host enjoys as much as the guests.
