Growing Vining/Fruiting Crops in Hoop Houses and Greenhouses

There are many differences between growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants in a greenhouse or hoop house vs. the field. You can make a few simple changes from field growing practices, apply what you already know about growing tomatoes to any of these crops, and maximize the potential of your protected growing space. This workshop covers spacing, pruning, trellising, climate, and varieties, and it talks about differences between greenhouse and hoop house growing.

Getting the Most Out of Your Hoop House or Greenhouse

Most small growers are using field-growing techniques in their greenhouses and hoop houses, which do not make the most of their precious protected growing space. There is a system of protected vegetable growing pioneered by the Dutch, common in commercial vegetable production, that will help growers naturally get more out of extending the season. Andrew Mefferd discusses spacing, choice of crops, trellising, pruning, temperature, and more. Learn how to get the most out of your greenhouse or hoop house!
